Dr. Jim Sutfin
Millard Public Schools Superintendent

Dr. Jim Sutfin has been the superintendent of Millard Public Schools since - 2014. During his time, he has moved Millard to a one-to-one school district with a laptop or iPad for every student. At the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, Millard was already one-to-one from third through fifth grades. The district quickly stepped up in the spring of 2021 to provide a device for all children, preschool through 12th grades to provide remote learning during the pandemic closure in spring 2020. By fall 2020 the district was able to reopen both in person and remotely for all students, operating continuously throughout the school year. 

Additional initiatives under Dr. Sutfin’s watch include the #BeKind community movement and #TeachUp campaigns, bringing the first Boys and Girls Club to Millard.

In 2019 Dr. Sutfin was named a Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association. In 2021 he was selected as Superintendent of the Year by the Nebraska Association of School Administrators.  

Previous to being Superintendent, Dr. Sutfin served as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Millard. He began his career in education in 1989 as a science teacher with the Bellevue  Public Schools. While serving the Bellevue Public Schools, Dr. Sutfin not only taught  English and Biology, but he also served as Student Council sponsor as well as assistant  coach in football and track. In the fall of 1995, Dr. Sutfin moved to Millard West High School as an Advanced  Placement Biology teacher, Student Council sponsor, and assistant track coach.
