Angela Smith Angela Smith is a long-time Omaha resident with more than fifteen years’ experience focused on building and strengthening the capacity of nonprofit service organizations. In her role at Spark, Angela leads the Spark Developer Academy, helping to provide technical assistance to emerging real estate development professionals who identify as BIPOC, women or gender expansive individuals. Her recent volunteer service includes serving as Board Chair for the Nebraska Chapter of the Grant Professionals Association and as Treasurer for her children’s elementary school PTA. |

As a real estate developer, Neeraj has developed and is in the process of developing an approximately $500,000,000 of multifamily, mixed-use and commercial projects since 2014. Neeraj's primary focus is on tax credit projects, specifically, affordable housing and historic renovations. Neeraj and Clarity's Omaha projects includes multiple mixed-use projects in the Blackstone District in partnership with Greenslate Development such as Blackstone Corner, the Colonial Apartments, and Blackstone Station and Union. Neeraj is a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Wisconsin Law School. |

Lamp Rynearson

Joe Flaxbeard is a civil engineer and senior project manager working in the Design Group at Lamp Rynearson. Joe is the project manager for the Heartwood Preserve development’s platting, grading and public improvements, working to deliver the civil infrastructure for clients, Applied Underwriters and S.I.D. 583 of Douglas County. Joe has been at Lamp Rynearson for 14 years where he has served as an engineer and project manager on a variety of projects including residential, commercial, redevelopment and infrastructure projects. He is involved with the American Council of Engineering Companies, and volunteers on the boards for Omaha Street School and Skutt Catholic High School. |

State of the State

Congressman Don Bacon has been serving the 2nd Congressional District in Nebraska since January 2017. He served nearly 30 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Brigadier General and was previously the Wing and Base Commander at both Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The Congressman is a strong advocate on the House Armed Services Committee for our military and veterans, and continues to fight for increased funding to rebuild our military, repair flood damages at Offutt Air Force Base, increase military pay, and improve programs and support to Gold Star families as well as our military members and their families. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, he has worked to pass the 2018 Farm Bill, helped establish a foot and mouth disease vaccine bank, and is a strong advocate for trade which is vital to Nebraska’s Ag industry and economy. He serves as the co-chair for the Foster Care, Electronic Warfare, Intelligence, For Country and Soccer Caucuses. Congressman Bacon has been married to Angie Bacon for more than 30 years and they have four children and six grandchildren. |

Allyson is the Donor Relations Manager for College Possible Omaha. She works with individual/annual giving, community campaigns like Do Good Week and Giving Tuesday, and is the staff partner for Champions for College Possible and alumni programming. Allyson received her education from Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Arts Management, a Master of Arts in Arts Administration, and a Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. She believes in College Possible because college was a transformative and life shaping experience for her and everyone who desires this opportunity should have it available to them regardless of background and family financial position. Allyson moved to Omaha at the beginning of 2019 with her husband Jason Triplett. She is also actively involved with the Junior League of Omaha and Toastmasters. |

Millard Public Schools Superintendent

Dr. Jim Sutfin has been the superintendent of Millard Public Schools since - 2014. During his time, he has moved Millard to a one-to-one school district with a laptop or iPad for every student. At the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, Millard was already one-to-one from third through fifth grades. The district quickly stepped up in the spring of 2021 to provide a device for all children, preschool through 12th grades to provide remote learning during the pandemic closure in spring 2020. By fall 2020 the district was able to reopen both in person and remotely for all students, operating continuously throughout the school year. Additional initiatives under Dr. Sutfin’s watch include the #BeKind community movement and #TeachUp campaigns, bringing the first Boys and Girls Club to Millard. In 2019 Dr. Sutfin was named a Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association. In 2021 he was selected as Superintendent of the Year by the Nebraska Association of School Administrators. Previous to being Superintendent, Dr. Sutfin served as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Millard. He began his career in education in 1989 as a science teacher with the Bellevue Public Schools. While serving the Bellevue Public Schools, Dr. Sutfin not only taught English and Biology, but he also served as Student Council sponsor as well as assistant coach in football and track. In the fall of 1995, Dr. Sutfin moved to Millard West High School as an Advanced Placement Biology teacher, Student Council sponsor, and assistant track coach.

A native Minnesotan, Paul Hedren retired from the National Park Service in 2007 after some thirty-seven years as a park historian and superintendent at such storied places as Fort Laramie, Wyoming, the Golden Spike Site in Utah, Fort Union in North Dakota, and the Niobrara Scenic River in Nebraska. He devotes his time now to writing. Paul is the author of scores of scholarly and popular articles appearing in magazines and journals far and wide, plus twelve books, nearly all pertaining to the Great Sioux War of 1876-77. He particularly enjoys studying and interpreting that conflict’s subtleties and consequences, though he has also written about its great battles. |

Katie Zimmerman joined The Kim Foundation in June 2019. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and Sociology from Central College in Pella, Iowa. Katie’s role at The Kim Foundation includes running the social media accounts, assisting in the Youth Advisory Council, and providing mental health awareness and education to the community through A Voice for Hope and Healing presentations. Katie is also currently enrolled at UNO getting her Master's in school counseling. |

Boy Scouts of America

Jason Triplett is the Omaha Metro Field Director for the Mid-America Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He has served in this role since June 2019. An 8-year professional with the BSA, Jason began his career in January 2014 as the White River Trails District Executive of the Hoosier Trails Council in Bloomington, Indiana. Here in Omaha, Jason provides leadership to the 4 team members serving the Black Hawk, Iron Horse, and Wagon Wheel Districts which cover Douglas, Sarpy, and Cass Counties. Outside of Scouting, Jason has been married to his wonderful wife, Allyson, for 3 years. He is an avid reader and DIY-er, and he and Allyson love cooking new recipes and trying new restaurants. Jason has been a Rotarian for nearly 7 years, first joining the Bedford Rotary Club in Indiana. |
