2024-08-12 00:00:00Z Aug. 11, 2024 Bob Austin & Pat Borg, Boy Scouts of America Aug. 12, 2024

Thank you for allowing us to come and speak and more importantly be the Charter partner of Troops 282B & 282G
To present today is Patrick Borg.
• Pat Borg is an Eagle Scout who has 2 sons Troop 282. One an Eagle Scout and well on his way to Eagle Scout.
• Pat is Wood Badge trained having finished all of his ‘ticket’ in 2020.
• Pat has earned the God & Service award through his church and Scouting for outstanding service to youth and the community.
• Pat has earned the Scoutmaster of the Year award from the Black Hawk District of the Mid-America Council in April of this year.
• Pat took the reins as Scoutmaster of Troop 282 in August of 2023 and is doing a fantastic job.
To support him as Scoutmaster of Troop 282G our female troop is Heather Haessler. Heather is no stranger to scouting. She has a son who is an Eagle
Scout and former Senior Patrol Leader and a daughter who just crossed over and is starting her journey to Eagle. In the time since her son joined Troop 282
Mrs. Haessler has done countless Boards of Review for all levels of Rank Advancement and filled many volunteer positions including Instructor for the
God and Me class.
Outside of scouting Heather is a member of the Millard Public Schools Parent Advisory Committee, has held an office on the Reeder Elementary School PTA
for the last 8 years, is an executive board member for AVIR, and is a member of the Nebraska Academy of PAs. Her extensive leadership and volunteer history
make her a great role model for the scouts of Troop 282G.

Lastly, under the podium here running the slideshow is Mr. Bob.
• He currently serves as Committee Chair since 2018.
• Before that he was Troop Chaplain and Cubmaster dating back to 2010.
• Bob is pretty low-key behind the scenes until someone says Christmas Tree, then it’s ‘Game On!” He has coordinated the efforts for the past 5 years
growing the program to collect just short of 7,000 trees a year.
Thank you again, without much ado, Pat Borg…

2024-08-19 00:00:00Z Aug. 18, 2024 Beverly Lahlum Taylor Hjemkomst Consulting/Coaching Aug. 19, 2024

As the oldest of three, I took on adult responsibilities when my dad died when I was eight. I wanted to be a vulcanologist when younger, (think Pierce Brosnan in Dante's Peak) or an earth scientist like Helen Hunt in Twister.  Instead, I went down a path involving a series of poor decisions. With no guardrails of middle-class lifestyle to contain me, I dropped out of high school and began shift work at a sugar factory. One night on a graveyard shift I 'woke up' and realized that without major changes, I would work in that factory until I died. A friend was going to college orientation, and I tagged along.

Interests
I am interested in making the world better in ways that impact these particular areas:
Increased Leadership Capacity of Individuals Poverty Eradication, Technology Access & Equity, Disability Rights, Connected Communities

Strong leadership skills are essential as we face many challenges in our world.  I believe that every voice matters, everyone has dignity and value. We are stronger together.
